FAQ-Authors

*Updated March 29, 2012*

1) Do you accept pitches?

–Sometimes. Please check our blog for details. We do always prefer full manuscripts.

2) If I sign a contract with No Boundaries Press, how long will it be before my book is released?

–We do full edits. So sometimes it may take slightly longer than planned. Currently (as of 03.29.2012) we are scheduling for August and September releases. Again, sometimes actual release dates depend on several factors (the time in editing, the return time from our authors, agreement on covers and so on). The main reason can sometimes get your book released a little sooner is because we aren’t releasing tons and tons of books at one time (generally 6 to 10 a month) and our editors and cover artists work ahead of time (most generally).

3) What about my cover art?

–We have a great cover art designer. You will be sent a cover art questionnaire. When returned, it will be forwarded to her. She allows 3 changes. We want you to enjoy your cover. We also allow you to take it with you when your contract has expired should one party decide not to renew.

4) How much will I make?

–The book is yours. You wrote it. With that, we try to be as fair as we can be. At times, we will launch royalty specials. All other times the author will get a 60% royalty rate of what comes back to No Boundaries Press. (Example: If Amazon sends us $3 from each book sale after they take out their percent, you would get 60% of the $3).

5) What rights do I retain?

–The book is yours. The rights we retain is simply to publish it (ebook and possibly in print) for you. No Boundaries Press never takes full rights to your book.

6) Is there a bankruptcy clause?

–Yes, all rights would immediately revert back to the author to release elsewhere. Also, you would be provided with signed statements of release within 14 days.

7) Do you have unusual terms in your contract?

–We have added a few extras in our contract. 1) You get to keep your cover when your contract expires and 2) There is a clause about payment and Press rights in the event of serious illness and/or death of both owners.

8) Publishing with No Boundaries Press versus Vendor.

–Our books will have more of a guideline as to what we will publish than our vendor area. We do not offer any services other than as vendor for those books. We do not do cover art, we do not edit and so on. Our vendor area is open to authors and other publishers and is 100% on them for what they edit, covers they make and how they present the book to readers. Authors we contract have a different set of guidelines.

9) When do I get paid?

–We pay royalties quarterly. For the quarter ending March 31, you would be paid no later than May 15. However, in most instances, once we recieve payment from other vendors, we should have your payment to you within a week.
